How to move a book from ADE into Calibre?

Oh please someone help! I'm trying to figure out how to get a just-purchased epub book from Adobe Digital Editions into Calibre so I can remove the DRM and read it on my kindle.. I've installed the DRM removal plugins.

However: If I try to "get book" from the download folder, all Calibre finds is an address for the book that doesn't turn into a book, despite plugins that were supposed to remove the DRM. I tried sending the file to my kindle, but that didn't work either. I'm also unable to "get book" from my ADE library, because ADE doesn't show up in the list of selectable things on my desktop and Calibre doesn't see it.
So how in the world do I get the book into Calibre in a form in which the DRM can be stripped and I can read it on my kindle?

For a book in Adobe Digital Editions, the process to add a book to Calibre is to click on the Add Books button on the upper left. Point to the "My Documents\My Digital Editions" folder and select the book you want to add.

Then click on Convert Books to change from ePub to Mobi.

Thank you....spent ages looking to see how I could borrow books from OpenLibrary and read on my kobo....Cailbre with ADE and this instructions help.

(could not do it with overdrive plugin)

I am having the same problem. I have a bunch of EPUB books in ADE which I want to put into Calibre so that I can then load them into our kobos. When I click on the Add Books Button and navigate to My Digital Editions, My Digital Editions is ghosted - which is to say it is visible but not clickable. If I try drag and drop it does not work. I'm pretty sure that I did not have this problem the last time I loaded up but it does not work this time. Help!

What I do is have ADE running in library view and right click on any book and select Show File in Explorer. That opens the folder where all of the books are. Open Calibre and position it so that you can drag from that ADE folder to Calibre. Find the book you're wanting in the ADE folder and drag it onto the library list in Calibre.

Thanks Hobnail. I use a Mac. My problem is getting books from my Calibre library onto my kobo. I have done this many times before but, this time, despite the fact that I have touched "connect" when I connect the kobo to my iMac, and despite the facts that the kobo e reader icon appears on my desktop and the "Device" icon appears on the Calibre toolbar, Calibre does not seem to see or accept my kobo.

Odd. Your first message says you are unable to copy the epubs from the My Digital Editions directory into calibre. The next message says you are unable to copy books from calibre to your Kobo.

After you tap Connect, do you see the Kobo's accessible storage mounted on your desktop? Can you open that storage to view the files and directories in it? Can you copy files to/from your Kobo? If this works, what do you see when you right click on an ebook in calibre's library view and then hover on Send to Device?

With calibre closed and ADE open, connect your Kobo. Does it show under Devices in ADE?
