Cover updates in book but not in preview

I'm using Moon+ Reader Pro for my books. I have a few books that I downloaded via fanficfare. They seem to be pulling a cover from somewhere in the book. I created a nicer cover using canva and am trying to update it to the book.

When I open the book on my device it will correctly bring up the cover I chose. However, when I look at it on my shelf/recent list, the thumbnail is the incorrect downloaded one.

Things I've done:
-Edit metadata --> browse for new cover
-In fanficfare under personal.ini I have listed make_firstimage_cover:false
-Polish books --> update the cover in book files
-Modify epub --> insert or replace cover

The epub file keeps updating, but the cover of the book just won't update. Any suggestions on what else I can try?

If you use Calibre?

What OS, What version of Calibre?
And how is the book getting to you Android (Moon)?

Yes, on the Moon Reader app. When I view the book on Calibre it opens with the correct cover. It also does so in Moon Reader; it's only the thumbnail version that doesn't update.

I'm Windows based. I first had the issue with Calibre 3, now I'm updated to 4.10.1. I'm transferring the book by uploading it to dropbox and opening it in Moon Reader from there.

Sorry I can't be of further help, but your answers may attract someone who uses Moon your way.
( I Use Moon via Calibre Companion so I do not use its bookshelf)
A WAG: is Moon, like others, only creates a thumbnail upon Creation, not update. You would need to delete, then Add to get the Thumbnail updated
