From handwriting to text documents in Onyx Note app: how can I do that ?
Hi all,
Well I have some trouble with my new Note 2, so I hope some of you knows about some work around / fix for my problem, as this is getting a huge issue for me. First, a small introduction: I wanted a device to be able to write down documents/publications (with a pen, as this is quicker when travelling), annotate some pdf/word document, read some stuff on the fly and take some (handwriting) notes during meeting. So mainly (standard) academic professional work. I also need to convert the documents/publication and meeting review to typed text files. So far, I love my Note 2, it has amazing battery life, and can in theory do all aforementioned tasks pretty well. The lag is the only annoyance I have about the hardware part, but I can live with it using speed mode and the Onyx app (the rest of the apps offering handwriting is pretty unusable because of the lag with the pen and third-party apps). I am however struggling with the software part: - First, the handwriting rejection is terrible since upgrade 2.2, but there are some workaround and they should fix this too at some point. With NeoReader, I also had some trouble from zooming in/out, highlighting involuntarily some text, or opening the dictionary with my palm. - My main problem concern the note app: I have a couple of 15-30 handwritten page documents in the Note app that I just wrote. I tried to convert them to written text using the IA from Onyx, but any attempt failed/crashed (I waited each time more than 10 minutes, at which point I concluded that it was not meant for that). Also, apparently there is no way to split the screen between for instance a word document and the note app document, in order to read the handwriting in one side while typing a new document one the other side (so basically making a definitive typed document from the notes I took). My questions are: 1/ is there any way to convert a document from note app to typed text ? If not, what are you guys using to take notes on the Note 2 ? I could try to write directly using a keyboard, but it's not easy to do it on the fly and also the note app is just terrible with written text (I installed word, it's working but not really optimized for e-ink screen). 2/ can we split screen with on one side a (for instance) word document where you can type in, and a document from the note app ? I tried to convert it the note app document to a pdf, but I got a strange bug where my notes are in landscape mode instead of portrait mode, so I miss some text on top and at the bottom. 3/ is there a way to definitely deactivate the dictionary and/or the text selection from our palm when using NeoReader (the pen should ideally still work, even though I don't really to select text anyway) ? This is driving me a bit crazy when correcting a document. Many thanks in advance for any help/feedback of your experience. Would be very much appreciated.
