				Calibre issue exporting to Kobo

			Hi all

I am new to this forum (never knew it existed, sorry). I am John from The Netherlands. I do know some English, and hopefully I can get a lot of info here. And hopefully can give info as well. I owned a Kobo Glo HD, but I bought myself a new Kobo Libra H2O as a Xmas gift :-) I had below mentioned problem before, but I always changed the way to upload and got it working. I always had a work around (uploading directly from Finder without Calibre). But now i would like to get some more info, I hope. I am getting this message when I upload a book to Kobo. Can anyone explain to me what is is, and even more important, how can I solve the problem? calibre, version 4.7.0 FOUT: Fout: Fout bij communicatie met apparaat Kan '2018 - Macbeth' door 'Jo Nesbø' niet analyseren. Install the epubcheck plugin for Calibre. It's an editor plugin. Load the ePub into the editor and check for errors. Fix all the errors and then send to your Kobo.

At this point in time, I'd give the OP the benefit of the doubt. |

And I had a better look at the code in the driver. There is a high chance it is the file name, but, it could be code in the book that isn't parsing. In either case, I've seen enough "professionally" produced books with these problems that it wouldn't have occurred to me that this book wasn't legit.

Thanks all. I will check the different options. I am not that technical with those things but I’ll see what I can find.

If you EDIT the book with the Calibre Editor (T), then simply debug (the bug icon), it will report UNSAFE (those that others have issues with) filename characters and offer to make them safe. Save Done.

I think JSWolf should be banned for hinting at defaming another member without probable cause. Per my made up rules because I said so.

And maybe it wasn't an invalid file name. Maybe it triggered a bug. Or the combination of characters in the file name and temp path triggered something. Or, as I have already stated, it is actually a problem in parsing the contents of the file. The drivers code parses the error and doesn't show the exact source of the error. And Jon, it could easily have been an error made by the OP. I know that you clean up your books. What if the OP made a change while doing that and this error was triggered? There wasn't anything in the OP's post that suggested piracy to me. |

Possibly caused by a file name containing: "2018 - Macbeth' door 'Jo Nesbø' niet analyseren. . . ". IIRC you can configure HFS+ to disallow non-ascii characters in file names (to be compatible with older Linux file systems), like you can configure it to treat upper and lower case the same (to be compatible with Windows file systems). Thank you all for your help. I have sorted the problem. I will not go any further in to it. I’ll let it rest. I’m sorry if I caused confusion.

If you think it’s and I’m not legit please remove this post. I will pay more attention next time. |
