Scan/Repair just cycles
With Windows 10, when Kobo Aura One is connected, the I/O error message pops up and says to scan/repair the device. When the repair option is clicked, it just gives the message that it is scanning and repairing but the advance bar never shows any green and nothing happens.
If I try restarting the PC, the reboot just hangs up and doesn't boot unless the ereader is not connected. Any thoughts as to how to get scan/repair to work? Thanks. |

How many books do you have on it/how much space is used up, and long do you wait before you kill the disk check? I wonder if you're not actually allowing it to complete and now you've got some major disk corruption. Maybe try leaving it running overnight and see if it's finished in the morning.
Edit: On my Windows 10 machine, when scanning my Glo HD, the bar doesn't actually move. It looks empty, takes a while, and then it's just done. But that's just my machine; not sure if it's like that for others. Last edited by rtiangha; 12-15-2019 at 05:38 PM. |

A long scan time, and especially if it is happening frequently, could be a sign that the storage in the device is failing. I don't know of a way to check that. But, I would try changing the things you can, port, cable or PC, and seeing if the problem continues. |

Sorry, I fully thought I had hit "submit" on a deletion notice of this thread.
The scan/repair eventually did complete. As David says, it only moves rapidly at the end of the process. In answer to the question, there are only about 15 books on the ereader. |

Don't ask for the thread to be deleted. It could help someone else with the same problem.

My experience with Windows 10 Scan/Repair is that it painfully slow from start to finish. It takes forever before the green progress bar shows any progress and then it just zooms across.

If there is a real problem, I would think logging out of the Kobo account and back in would be a better (and quicker) fix. |

I have had an occasional problem. Most times I wasn't surprised as I knew I messed up when I disconnected the device. Quote:

Sorry, but my experience is different with Kobo Aura One.
One recent example, the popup alert warning appeared and I tried ignoring it. Calibre reported I/O errors. I did the Scan/Repair and then Calibre had no problem. |

This happens to me all the time. My suspicion is that Calibre is not ejecting the drive properly.

But, as calibre just calls the OS functions to eject the device, it is unlikely to be a calibre problem. |

And, I always use Windows to eject the ereader.

It seems every time I hook up my Kobo Clara or my Tolino Shine 2 to my PC in order to transfer books via ADE I get the check disk prompt. I do eject from the PC before unplugging. Is there anything else I should be doing to prevent it from wanting to check disk every time?
