Overdrive app

I opened the Overdrive android app on my phone tonight and the interface had completely changed. I had to sign in again to my local library (I have been signed in on the app for a long time without ever having to sign in/out) and then it all looked totally different. I couldn't even find advanced search.

I closed the app and reopened, and it was back to the way it's always been.??!! Hope it stays that way!

I haven't seen any changes in the desktop site on my PC.

Some of that UI is a rendering of the library’s web site. I suspect that if you had used a browser you might have seen a similar change. Also possible they are doing some sort of AB testing.

That said I haven’t used Overdrive for quite a while. Switched to Libby which seems mostly better IMO and I think it has more frequent updates.

Even so, it is not unusual to have to re-enter credentials after an app update (annoying, but not unusual). If you’re curious you could see if that’s what triggered need to renter them by checking updates in Play Store.

Wonder if this is related to the bug that halted the rollout of Chrome 79 for Android.

Wouldn't surprise me if the Overdrive app largely uses the system webview component to render some sort of HTML5 interface

It was strange - it was temporarily a completely different interface, with different colors (lots of blue), layout and menu options. I wonder if maybe I got an accidental preview of a new version of Overdrive or something.

I closed it, went to my computer, found nothing weird on the desktop version, reopened the app on my phone, and it had gone back to normal.
