Calibre 4.x no longer starts
Hello,

Since the new version 4.x, Calibre no longer starts.
Below are the traces in a DOS window:

C:\Program Files\Calibre2>calibre-debug -g
calibre 4.4 embedded-python: True is64bit: False
Windows-8-6.2.9200-SP0 Windows ('32bit', 'WindowsPE')
('Windows', '8', '6.2.9200')
Python 2.7.16+
Windows: ('8', '6.2.9200', 'SP0', u'Multiprocessor Free')
Interface language: fr
Turning on automatic hidpi scaling

C:\Program Files\Calibre2>

On the other hand no problem with version 3.48

You did install the 32 bit version?
You could try uninstalling, then get a Fresh copy from the Alternate download site (shown right under the normal download)

You might want to check your video driver. That seems to be the common cause for calibre startup abending at "Turning on automatic hidpi scaling".

Yes, I downloaded the 32-bit version. I also tried the installable version in Windows and the portable version.
I checked my graphics card in the device manager: it works correctly and the driver is up to date.

Please note that in version 3.48, I do not have any problem with launching.

If you are using Windows 7 or Vista please, use calibre 3.48, which works with all Windows 7/Vista machines, from here. Simply un-install calibre and install 3.48, doing so will not affect your books/settings.

It says Windows 8. Vista came before 7.

I fixed the spoiler on his post that @theducks added. It confused the fact he listed two separate logs. The one that finishes in 5.58 seconds with 7011 books is when he uses v3.48, which he states works fine.
