Libra Sales?

Does the Kobo usually go on sale for Black Friday? Trying to decide if I should hold off my purchase for a few more weeks.

I'm in the same boat as you!

I get the feeling that older models may go on sale. Doubtful that the Forma or Libra will be discounted. I know that Good-e-reader store won't be discounting the above two devices.

I figure Amazon will discount some of their older or cheaper Kindles, but again doubtful the Kobo's will be discounted by much if at all. If you do a Black Friday search you will see that Amazon will be discounting the Paperwhite.

AliExpress mostly sells used ereaders and the Boyue's may have slight discounts, but I think marginal at best. Who else? Maybe Best Buy or Wallmart might offer some sales. I'm in Korea so it will be difficult to take advantage of any US based sales.

But then again, what the heck do I know

Thanks for the response. I guess we both have our fingers crossed.

I'm only interested in the Clara HD at this point. It's been out for a while, so maybe I'll get lucky. I'm in the US but not near a Walmart. Maybe I'll swing by a Best Buy and see what the sitch is.

Do you know abything about Crema ereaders? I'm wonder if there is English menu, possiblility of reading side loaded EPUBs and using remote controll with such e-books. Could you help?

I think last year the Clara went on sale for $100 (and stayed on sale for quite a while). If reports are correct, the Paperwhite 4 is going on sale for $85 on the 22nd, so I'm guessing the Clara will compete. (I don't think Kobo starts their Black Friday sales as early as Amazon, though.)

I read your post a little closer. Best Buy doesn't have these (unless you're in Canada). Walmart doesn't carry them in the stores anyhow but they (sometimes) offer two day delivery -- and Amazon is selling them also (which is weird).

I don't have a Clara, but I've now got its close cousin, a Tolino Shine 3. If the Clara's screen is as nice as my Shine 3's, I think you'd be very happy with it.

EDIT: It looks like you already own a Clara. Sorry for missing that. (I'm batting about 0 for 10 tonight.)

Yes I've looked into the Crema line. They do support English menus and within Korea are reasonably priced. However I'm not to sure how the software renders English epubs. All Youtube reviews are in Korean, but many of the reviewers will answer you in English in the comment section. I'm just not so sure many of the reviewers have actually side loaded English books. I know the Kyobo Sam's have worked reasonably well. Personally I've decided against it and am going to purchase the Likebook Mars on Black Friday from AliExpress. Wish i could be more help.

The Libra is on sale in the Netherlands now (20 euro off), so a decent chance this will be the case in other countries as well. Looks like Kobo is trying to push it for the holidays.

I bought my Clara off Walmart's website: Kobo Clara HD eReader

Ordered on a Wednesday, at my door Thursday.

The real estate here is too expensive even for Walmart.

I'm keeping my eyes on the Web site. Hoping for a sale. I've had a major medical issue this past year and every buck saved helps pay for PET CT scans.

The Clara and Forma are in Best Buy CANADA Black Friday flyer starting Nov 28 at $30 off. I expect several other retailers here in Canada to also match this deal. I am surprised they picked the Forma as I figured the Libre would go on sale. Perhaps it’s selling better and they didn’t feel the need to put it on sale.

So, if they do the same in the U.S., that means the Clara will be $90. That's a pretty good deal. And that sounds right because the Clara was $130 last year and they lowered it to $100 for Black Friday.
