How to make the CalibreLibrary read-only for student users except Admin

We are having the Calibre Library in our Windows 2016 Server. The student users are accessing this library with their individual student account through remote access (mstsc) as we are not using the content server option. In the server, we have account for administrator and 10 student users. We would like to restrict the students from modifying the metadata or even from deleting the contents of the library. This access should be given only for the admin.

I have tried to make Calibre library read-only by changing the windows folder permissions. Then I am getting an error when I open the Calibre software. I think some files (logs) are written while opening which need write access. How to bypass that? If I am wrong kindly correct.

I am a novice in Calibre. So if you could give your expertise, it would be great help for us.

Thanks
Johns

You cant run calibre with a readonly libary. Instead use a one way sync to maintain a copy of the calibre library folder per student. They sync can revert any changes the student makes after they log off

Have a look at the Calibre Spy plugin ==>> Index of plugins
