Doc to Mobi : Paragraph indentation Symbols?
Ok, so I am really new to this. I am used to copy/pasting data into a doc, reformatting it, saving, and then dropping it into calibre and just hitting convert to mobi. That's the extent of my coding knowledge for this program so any assistance given will need to be with that understanding. (As a note I read only in black/white so the colors here aren't errors).
Some friends translate Chinese novels and I compile them into MOBI files for personal use. I have not had any issues before doing this, but now whenever I convert the books (even if there is no formatting adding indentions to paragraphs) I will open it on Kindle and see this: https://imgur.com/a/3wnPnlJ Could someone tell me why these marks are before each paragraph? Also, the Chinese characters are not able to be read when it could with a previous version of this file. Using: Calibre 4.3 for Windows 10. The arrows only show on the kindle not the e-reader built in on Calibre. Thanks! |

According to that log you have your mobi file type set to new not old. I tried converting the docx to old mobi and looked at it in kindle previewer and din't see any issues.

Sorry, I've been trying everything I can to fix the error so I attached the wrong file. My bad. But until now I only used the Mobi old version. |

The kindle previewer is meant to preview kindle books. That is what I tried it in. I dont have the time to send the book to an actual kindle to test, but I would be very surprised if it shwed different results from the kindle previewer.

Oh and I took a look at your docx file, every paragrpah starts with the invisible unicode symbol U+200F which is what is causing this issue. Use the search and replace in the conversion dialog with a search of \u200F and empty replace to get rid of them.
