Navigation Ball keeps being re-enabled at boot with Nova Pro 2.2.1
I'm not a big fan of the Navigation Ball so I disabled it when it was introduced in the earlier 2.1.2 release. I updated yesterday to 2.2.1 and now the Navigation Ball keeps get re-enabled whenever the device boots, despite me disabling it every time.
Has anyone else experienced this or know how I can stop the Navigation Ball starting all the time? Thanks. |

In note 2 that doesn't happen to me... Must be some kind of error... Maybe forcing stop? ,(In the manage apps settings)

Although I love the Navigation Ball, and use it frequently, thought I would see what happens if I turn it off and then reboot...
Yes, indeed, it turns itself back on. I experimented a couple of times, and it happened both times. From what I could see, even if you go into the "Manage Apps" under "Settings", you don not have the option to disable it. You may want to go to the Onyx BBS site to raise this issue. http://bbs.onyx-international.com/ |

Thanks for the suggestion. I see someone posted on there yesterday that they are experiencing the same issue after updating the Note Pro to 2.2.1 so I'll post a message there as well.

With the 2.2.1 update the Nav Ball is enabled by default, it's also the only way to Optimize apps (far as I know). They disabled the long-press app icon to access App Optimization settings feature (not sure why?).
It's always a good idea to read an Updates details before applying it. They often make undesirable changes alongside desirable ones. But as long as you can choose not to update a device, you can weight the benefits to the drawbacks and decline if you see fit to do so. I decided not to update. But I will likely update when the Android 9.0 update rolls around. At least after the updates been out long enough to ensure there aren't major issues with it. |

A Boox representative has responded on a topic regarding this issue at http://bbs.onyx-international.com/. The R&D team has been made aware of the navigation ball being re-enabled at startup so hopefully this will get fixed in a future update.
