Need tolino help

Hallo!
sorry for my english, german goes better

I use Calibre since 6 years, but only for transfer between PC and reader.
I find a good book about Calibre in german - Reibold, Holger: EPUB kompakt.
I find new functions and wiil use it:
1) metadata from ISBNdb.com - he works, but the same autorname coming in different versions "Weber, David" or "David Weber" - i will it in the first form. Which configuration must i use?
2) i have books from different sources, with different rules of filename, i will use "{author_sort[0]}/{authors} - {series} {series_index:0>3s} - {title}" by save to drive, but i become no new directory with the first character of the autors name, and all files was written to the main directory
can somebody help?

Part of the solution is to start with clean (and a standard) data:

Find random author or title names (Metadata) using Quality Check Plugin
Use the Fix section of that plugin to flip the ones that are wrong:
eg. Weber, David <=> David Weber

But

i am maximalist.
Can we make a choice, that all authors i need in form 'Famliyname, Firstname'. I think, in the database is it in this form. With the metatag downloading from database can be easy to fill the own Calibre database with the right form.

What you scribed need that i by all authorsname (over 120thousand books)(over 10thousand authors) make a rule for the name. not so easy, not comfortable.

You can NOT make Calibre auto-fix ALL entries.
The QC plugin can quickly discover those that don't conform.
Ctrl-A those results: Fix
FWIW I also require Author initials to be as: A. B. Correct
The QC PI allow a quick adjustment

Note this PI will not discover that your favorite author name appears 6+ other ways.

D Weber, David G. Weber, Dave Weber

And sometimes you need to cheat

: 2 Authors with the same exact name will require you to force one to be different so they don't mix together upon grouping
