Nova 2 battery replacement
The battery on my Nova 2 lasts for only 4-5 hours now, so it may be on the way out! In theory, at least, getting a new battery is much cheaper than getting a new device. I see several possibilities on Aliexpress. What I am wondering is whether there are some kind of instructions as to how to open my Nova and do the battery replacement.
Any thoughts? Thanks! |

Haven't opened a Nova model, but my guess is that it would be very similar to the Note model except smaller. I replaced the battery in my Note Pro without incident. It is still working fine. See the following thread: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=339908

Thanks for the info and the link! I found a battery for my Nova 2 which I have ordered. It will arrive in about two months, apparently! |

I did it in a nova 1. It was simple. There is a video around, but I can't find it now.
The battery I ordered came with the tools needed to open the case. It's like a guitar pick. You slide it around the seam to loosen the case. As I say, there is a video... Found it: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=339908 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJULjRBTiqA You must unsolder the existing battery connections to the mobo, then solder the new battery connections to the same points. You do not need fresh solder. Simply heat the leftover solder that is on the mobo points, and connect the wires. Take photos of everything prior to removing the old battery as a guide. Yes, croissant and baguette dripping with butter. Crusty white rolls. And pizza. It's all in the past for me. Cookies too. You have no idea how good normal wheat-based pasta taste. But thanks for your support.

Be very, very careful, gentlemen, when replacing the batteries.
Keep in mind that if you twist the battery and/or cause a hole, you may end up with a major fire and poisonous fumes. If this occurs, do not attempt to extinguish the fire with water since water interacts with lithium and prolongs the fire. Because batteries expand in size when charging, the new battery cannot be larger than the previous one (remember Samsung Note 8 issue) |

Sorry, Pajamaman. I hadn't realized it until I looked it up that rye and barley have gluten too. I probably eat more rye than wheat.
I don't know why Onyx populates the circuit boards with a battery connector but then fails to put connectors on the batteries. It would be safer with a connector, less risk of shorting. Has anybody tried to figure out a source for connectors? |

I was lucky. The battery I ordered from Aliexpress came with a connector already attached. Hopefully, more vendors of batteries will realize that this could be a selling point. It made replacing the battery in my Note Pro dead easy. |

The battery I have ordered from Aliexpress has a connector as well, judging by the photos. I might get it by the end of May. Good to know that the connector makes the process that much easier!

Then you just put the new battery into position and plug in the connector. I didn't even need to put any new adhesive into place to hold the battery in position. The remnants from the old battery were more than sufficient. |
