Help! Converting from epub to mobi results in loss of *all* images and font data

I'm trying to convert an epub to a mobi for my son.

During the conversion, all images and fonts are lost. It seems to be basic plaintext.

The target epub is "Diary of An Awesome Friendly Kid" obtained from b-ok. It seems if I change the mobi file type to "both" or "new", the images and fonts are kept, but the kindle paperwhite I'm using can't load it. Same with AZWS3 (or whatever it's called

).

Any ideas? All options are on default with the exception of experimenting with mobi old/both/new.

mobi old is not capable of advanced markup, you have to use azw3. If for some reason your kindle is not accepting azw3 your other alternative is converting to PDF, sized for the reader screen

Kindles can read KF8 (AZW3) as far back as the Kindle 3 (aka Kindle Keyboard).

I've got a kindle paperwhite 7th edition. This book does not work as AZW3 or new MOBI on my 7th edition, or the older 6th edition.

And it doesn't work on my Kindle Voyage either

Help! HE's got the other books in the series which I found as mobi, and they all have images. I'm so confused.

Sure.

Device hangs, times out and says the book is corrupted and if it was bought from Amazon, download it again.

The .mobi files I've found are transferred without a problem so I don't think it's a transfer problem?

I really wish I knew wtf was happening. Maybe if I delete and re-install calibre.

Well, those instructions are valid.
Books do get corrupted while downloading from Amazon. Sometimes the culprit is a Rogue anti-virus that just thinks it needs to clean the (book) file.

@Spankeh, my suggestion is to update to the new firmware and see if that fixes your problem. The current version is 5.12.2.

Had never heard of B-OK so went to check. URL leads to Z-Library. Seemed like a site with bootleg copies.

Downloaded the book in question and looked at the code. Definitely not the real book. The problem is entirely in the code.

Downloaded another book, a John Grisham, also not real. So ... garbage in, etc.
