BTW, I usually use ADE or KindlePreviewer but I think the Calibre Viewer looks nice, maybe because I have less to un-learn.

It seems to work like my PaperWhite, i.e. an eInk device

You make an excellent point. There are no (screen) controls on either my K4 or Kobo when there is normal text showing. Only header and footer displays
