Batch change metadata of books in library

Can some kind person please point me to information about batch processing changes of meta data for books in a library.
For example the publisher "CreateSpace" appears in one of my libraries under several different variations of their name. Yes, I can for example find say 4 books with the publisher "createspace.com" and individually edit the metadata for each book, but in some cases there might be hundreds of books with another variant of the publishers name and I don't want to spend days or weeks editing the individual metadata for each book.
IMPORTANT: I am using "Publisher" here ONLY as an example, but there are other book metadata items that I want to batch process.
Any pointers or guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Open the Tag Browser (if hidden)
Also do this using All Books tab (if you have VL's)
A (right click) rename anything in the Tag Browser affects all uses.

If the rename lands onto an existing name, they are combined

Many thanks [the ducks] for your quick reply I have the All Books tab open, but I am unable to find the "Tag Browser" in which to right click. A bit more info please.

Click the Layout 'button' in the status line and then click Tag Browser, or press Shift+Alt+T

If Preferences ->Look and Feel->Show layout buttons in the status bar is checked then the individual Layout options (tag browser, grid view etc) will be shown in the status line.
