Clean-up Messy PDF -> ePUB Conversion of 2019 BCP

There is a new (freely downloadable in PDF) 2019 Book of Common Prayer. While the pdf itself is nicely done, I've been unsuccessful in getting it into an acceptable ePub or Mobi format. The problem is limited to the first several pages, which are heavily formatted, using several fonts, kerning, and other elements needed for the desired appearance. All of which is lost in conversion, whether using Calibre or Kindle's conversion process. The great bulk of the book converts fine, but not the introductory pages, which are themselves quite important to the use of the BCP. I tried editing the ePub conversion with Calibre, but with marginal success. I'm NOT, btw, attempting to duplicate the pagination in the conversion.

If anyone might be interested in looking at the pdf and advising me as to what I need to do to preserve the formatting on conversion, I would be grateful. The link to the download can easily be found by searching for 2019 Book of Common Prayer download.

Many thanks.

There's a sticky at the top of this sub-forum regarding converting PDFs, the first sentence of which reads:

Quote:
PDF format is the worst choice of source formats to use with Calibre, and conversions can range from decent to quite awful.
I had a look at the PDF and put it in the 'not worth the effort to convert' basket - in which case I'd read the PDF.

However, the site I found has the book as separate parts in DOCX. I converted the first two sections to epub (attached). If this is better than converting the PDF then convert all the DOCXs and merge with the ePubMerge plugin ==>> Index of plugins

Attached Files
File Type: epub 01-table-of-contents-preface.epub (65.4 KB, 150 views)
File Type: epub 02-daily-office.epub (130.0 KB, 130 views)

Silly me. I'd known about the doc files, but just wasn't thinking of them in terms of conversion. Great idea, and thanks for pointing out what should have been obvious. And again thanks for going to the trouble to convert the two sections. Will take a look and pursue that route if it looks good.
