How choose reading tablet?

Hello everybody!

I was about to ask "what tablet is recommended for reading", till I realized it is very rarely, one will buy a tablet for reading only (I guess there are not tons of super-wealthy here) - of course I'll be glad to some specific recommendations, but I realized we all will be much better with - what points are essential for reading?

I mean screen type, back light, vividness etc.

I'm considering to buy a large screen tablet, primary for reading (ok, maybe occasional youtube watching too). Primary because of comics, colorful books (thing of popular biology book - don't colorful representation of the DNA will look much more better than my Onyx will do? With all due respect) and ease of accessing my home NAS, where all books are stored). I went over many reviews and you guessed it - they all are contradictory. Some recommend that screen type, other recommended this. Some claim eye strain is greater with white background (back light), some with black. So let me try calling in our community wisdom - what points are essential for reading on Android devices?

Thank you all in advance!

higher is better for crisp text. 200+ is desirable, 300+ ( aka retina quality) if you are fussy

size/weight to suit you, and think through how you will hold it to read : portrait, landscape... which hand fingers/thumb will initiate page turns, will you prefer tap or swpie and where on screen do you prefer to tap... then you will chose a reader app that works for you.

Some apps ( but not the kindle one) let you customise what screen areas are used for what functions
e.g. I like a large tablet set up for 2 column landscape mode in reader apps. I read propped up in bed with tablet resting, balanced on me so for me, the weight is irrelevant
I have both left and right screen edges set to go to next page- so I can use either hand. the less used go to previous page is mapped to centre top. that is in Moon reader pro
