Hello!
Just joined officially today, so I can post and reply.
I had been searching for a mobile reader device for some time. Hmming and hawing about Amazon's Kindle. Cost versus device usability and all of that. For the time being I decided to use my Palm T|X with MobiReader. This software is wonderful! ![]() Now my trick is to take my text files and convert them so I can read it with Mobi. Jenn |

Well, there is probably some software here to help convert those txt files.
I myself got the Kindle, and LOVE it! But I spent 10-15 years reading on my Palm pda, until my eyes began telling me to Stop It! The Kindle is far easier on eyes, if yours ever complain to you. ![]() Welcome! Do take note of the link for "EBooks" on the blue bar near the top of the page. (I didn't see it for a while). There are loads of older books formatted for Mobipocket. Enjoy! |

Welcome to the forum. I still use my Palm TX for thos times when it's easier to carry it in my pocket. One nice thing about my Cybook Gen3 is that I can read Mobipocket on both it & the Palm. Like BadGoodDeb says, e-ink is easier on the eyes. As eyes get older, more tired or just low light levels the e-ink devices are great & don't cause as much eye strain as LCD. However you lose the back light but gain the ability to read in bright sunlight. So bottom line for me is I like them both for different circumstancesw.
One big advantage for me with the Cybook is greater freedom for font type and font size. I can choose between 12 font sizes and any True Type font that I want to load. Toward the end of the day I often bump up a size or two. I believe the best any other e-ink device has in font size choices is 6. Of course you can sometimes get around this if you have the ability to convert the ebook to a different format, i.e. no DRM. |
