Boox Max3 imminent?

The Boox 13.3 inch e-book readers only came on my radar recently and I am thinking about springing for the Max2 Pro, for use as a monitor firstly and Android tablet/ereader secondly. I imagine that it could be quite useful in saving my eyes as well as concentrating on reading. It is quite expensive though at US$850 and no longer available via Amazon at all. In fact the white one is also no longer available from the Boox website.

This leads me to ask, are there any rumors of a Max3 being released soon? Or is Boox giving up on the 13" size entirely?

I notice the non-Pro Max2 is on sale on Amazon, however I've read it is less effective as a monitor compared to the Max2 Pro. It's something to do with the picture being grainy.

I would also add that if Waveshare delivers a 13.3" eink display, as seem probable because they just released a 10.3" display, the possibility of hobbyists creating their own Eink screens, large enough for daily work using SSH or VNC, comprised of a large e-ink and a Raspberry pi will become real and the total cost could be much more affordable than a Boox Max.

Thank you. I really hope it has more RAM, a faster CPU, and no light.
I'm buying this to avoid eye strain and having any kind of light would defeat that.
It might also be nice if they were to center the Boox logo rather than have it to the left.

Dear user, in terms of what our development team said, we have plans to upgrade the old devices with Android 6 such as Max2 pro, Max2, Note pro, and Nova pro, etc. to Android 9. Please be patient.

yep, seems so.

They will put a qualcomm with better performance, 4/6gb of ram, 32/64gb of storage, a flushed screen and call it a day.

my max2 will be with me until they add frontlight, maybe max 3 pro next year unless surprise.

Max 2 Pro already has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of RAM I bought it last year. From the specs I can't see a major difference between Max 2 Pro and Max 3, maybe the design is different. I am fine with no front light, as I prefer to use external lighting for my eye health. I hope that if Onyx do release new models they will release variants with and without front light to allow people to choose their configurations themselves. The real reason for upgrading would be if they improved the e-ink screen resolution and latency issues, otherwise the hardware in the current models (Max 2, Max 2 Pro etc) is pretty decent any way.

I hate how they will release max 3; then, 3 months later max 3 plus and again 3 month later with max pro. I hope they will be released all together so we can have choices.

No problem with the hardware, it's always the software that must be improved with Onyx.
