I love tech and reading books, but was/still am a bit skeptical of ebooks and "e ink".
And I also love playing around with and collecting outdated tech and/or obscure-ish tech devices (eg: sw radios, cart-based video game consoles & hard-to-find games/peripherals, older laptops/tablets/smart devices, etc), so when I read that Sony killed off their line of ereaders a few years ago i knew i had to have one ...or maybe three at least. (My "official" justification for owning more than 1 ebook is that i need a spare one for my hurricane kit, in case we get another Katrina here in south Mississippi, but unofficially it's because i'm a tech nerd.)

My first ebook, which should arrive by Friday, will be a Sony PRS T1. i bought it from the (in)famous online auction site and saw a few other ereaders there that caught my eye, like the PRS 350 and 505 models and a few other, lesser known ebooks. Not really interested in owned a Nook or a Kindle; i'm on the fence about a Kobo.

That's great to hear about the T1. Mine arrived 2 days early and so far i love it. My T1 sometimes lags a bit, but that could be because i put too many ebooks on it or maybe the files were too big or maybe it just needs to be reset. I'll definitely enjoy playing around with it and reading on it, regardless, and i look forward to read tips & tricks on these forums..

And I'm hooked! E ink screens are amazing! My next ebook is a Pocketbook Sense (p630) which should arrive next week, and i hope to one day find a Bookeen Nolim with the neat case. I'll try to limit myself to just 3, but we'll see how that goes.

I’ve had my T1 since 2010 and it is still working fine. Sometimes takes a while to load new books on it but otherwise it seems to be behaving itself. No idea what I’ll replace it with when the time comes.
