Firmware Update Help with odd update problem [Oasis 2]

I have two Oasis 2s. One has firmware v5.11.1.1 installed, displaying the new home screen with "Filter" and "Sort" options on the upper right.

I just updated the second Oasis from v5.10.1.1 to v5.11.2 (latest) but the older options remain, "Books" and "Recent." There is no new "Filter," "Sort" or the ability to label a completed book "Read" (still showing 100%).

I have performed a reset three times, confirmed v5.11.2 (3541860032) is indeed installed but the older labels remain.

What is going on here? Any ideas why "Filter" and "Sort" is not displayed? I am not going to update the other one that is correct with "Filter" and "Sort" with v5.11.1.1 installed!

Hi!

Try to restart your kindle. Sync your device might work, too.

As previously mentioned, I did reset (restart) three times. I also re-installed the firmware and re-synced. No change.

I believe the new read filter needs to be activated server side. Try syncing and restarting (not reset) (I see you already tried, might have to wait now). It also appears to be a feature that is getting slowly released to individual Oasis with a schedule only Amazon knows.

Well, that makes no sense in my case since all my books are side-loaded and I never turn wifi on. Except once, when v5.11.1.1 downloaded and I installed it (with the appearance of "Filter," "Sort" and "Read")

I wondered if perhaps it was only activated via an OTA update but that would not make sense either. <scratching head> I just don't get it.

Note: I choose my description poorly when I wrote "reset." I meant to say "restart" ;-)

Makes even less sense, but possibly skipping 5.11.1.1 and going from 5.10.1.1 to 5.11.2 delays things? I would contact CS about it, they might possibly activate it (if you ask to get connected to the real tech service a tier or two higher than than your CS landing spot).

Ironically, I have been thinking the exact same thing. I will give them a call tomorrow (getting to be rack time here) and, in the meantime, I'll download a couple of samples to see if that triggers anything.

You are welcome, even though I couldn't help much. I suggest to use chat instead of calling. And always be nice, it gets you better results. Keep us updated. Even a "tech support was unable to manually activate the 'read' flag" is valuable information.

I had updated when the update first came out and it was several weeks before I got the new options.

Following an exchange with Kindle CS, the agent checked my account/devices and then asked me to re-download a couple of books to the second device. About 5 minutes later the appropriate filters appeared. I have no idea what, if anything, was changed on Amazon's end. There doesn't seem to be any logic to the update process. The other device that first updated immediately with the new features was my "default" device. Uncertain if that has anything to do with it.

I agree that it's likely Amazon triggered something since I had already tried re-downloading books prior to contacting them.
