And if we give out our email address are we going to get spammed?
Also, what format are these eBooks in? |

Just for fun, I created a throwaway account.
Basically, when you put in your email address, it asks you which one you want to download (all supposedly in PDFs) , and then it "can't find the file" |

There is no need to create accounts for such occasions. Just use mailinator
invent a name (my favourite is RegisteredUser) and give an address RegisteredUser@mailinator.com . You can use ANY name. Then you just visit www.mailinator.com and check the email mailinator has some aliases, so when the site refuses to accept mailinator.com use sogetthis.com In this case my (valid!) address looks like IDoNotWantToBeSpammed@SoGetThis.com my name is of course invariably FirstName Lastname ;-) By the way, the links on their site do not work. |

Might also be a good idea to dump the thread as well.

I could do, Jon. But I thought that Kacir's tip was useful, so I didn't want it to disappear forever. Plus, I like to see your shiny red Sony.

Eh, a throwaway does basically the same thing, plus I get the added advantage of being able to add whatever spam does get sent through it to my program that blocks those kind of things.

There is another way.
Have an address which is real but that you only use for suspect areas. My ISP lets me set up several email addresses. I have one for such a purpose. I then don't download emails to this address. Just an alternative. |
