Metadata
Is there a way to embed Metadata into my HTML without having to do it everything inside of Sigil?
Thank you. Jim |

You can edit your html in any editor you like. Sigil isn't relevant here. Just make sure you understand that an epub's metadata is not stored in, or retrieved from, html files.

You can use Sigil's Tools->Metadata Editor feature to add/edit/delete metadata elements in ePub files, or edit it directly in the metadata.opf file - which is stored as XML.

Thank you, but my copy of Sigil doesn't have a metadata.opf file. There is one in Calibre. Can I copy it to Sigil and modify it? Thank you Jiim |

In Sigil the default name for the .opf file that holds the metadata is: 'content.opf'
IIRC, it doesn't matter what the file is called, as long as it has the .opf extension...and I think there can be only one. (cue awesome Queen music) |

He meant the content.opf file. And no, you can't just copy one from calibre. The content.opf file is the "spinal cord" of a Sigil-built epub. You can edit it manually if you know what you're doing, but Sigil requires that the content.opf file be valid at all times in order to function properly. Use the metadata editor to be safe.

I think I'll stick to the built-in editor to be safe.
Thanks all! Jim |
