Coreldraw file to epub
I am new to Calibre and overall e-book publishing field.
Looking for inputs on how I can get a hard cover book designed in Coreldraw (cdr) file converted to epub format. I tried exporting it to pdf and then converting to epub but the formatting is all broken when I open the file in Mac iBook reader. Thanks Vikas |

JPG (Jpeg) is a very common
normal cover IMAGE format You don't normally 'convert' just an image. Images (covers)are incorporated as a File (page) in a book. The file gets flagged as the cover(page) and the Image gets flagged as the cover(image) If yo us Calibre Editor to Add a cover, these flags get set for you Or if you place the cover image into the Library Metadata details for the book, Them click, EMBED icon, it will add or replace the metadat+cover in the library copy of the book |

Not going to be much help to you but why would anyone choose a vector graphics oriented program to create and store a book. Creating covers and illustrations, yes. Writing and storing the entire book?

@OP - You aren't going to be able to do much with the CDR file except to export it as a PDF, being careful to select options so that the text exports as text (not converted to curves, ...) and that the necessary fonts are included/embedded. You will the need to "massage" the PDF in some other program (read through MR's "stickies" on PDF conversion for more info) before exporting into a file that calibre or some other app can use to convert to ePub. You need to expect that most/all formatting will be lost as ePub and print formatting are vastly incompatible. The ePub created will then need to be edited in an ePub editor, either calibre's or Sigil, to get the final desired formatting. |

Thanks so much Dwig, yeah as you've mentioned the full book has been created in Coreldraw. Tried pdf conversion but its pretty much lost all formatting so am having to redo most of the formatting again. Hence was checking if there was any magic bullet ![]() |

The current versions of Acrobat and Word can do an excellent job on some PDF's. I recently converted a bunch of complex BCG and Rand PDFs to DOCX and then EPUB that I didn't need to edit in any substantial way. BR |
