EpubSplit plugin Freezes Calibre

I've used this plugin somewhat in the past, although possibly not with the current version of Calibre--never had a problem.

Now, whenever I click the EpubSplit icon, Calibre simply freezes. I've tried it on various sized books, thinking maybe the whopper I wanted to split was the problem, but no, it just freezes. Tried re-installing the plugin also.

I've waited up to half an hour, but all I can do is force quit. Tried debug mode, but the log doesn't seem to say anything relevant, except the the plugin seems to initialize OK. Log attached.

Ubuntu 18.04, Calibre 3.40.1, EpubSplit 2.6.0.

Anyone have an idea? TIA...

Its likely the dialog for the pluginis opening off screen. Try pressing the esc key, it should close the dialog.

Thanks for the suggestion, Kovid. In fact, it turned out to be some system problem. After I tried hitting Esc - no result - I had a look at the system monitor. It had one processor at 100%, and as I said, went for up to half an hour with no completion. Then I gave up for the night.

This morning, after a reboot, it was using all 8 processors in turn, and completed after about 2 minutes. Go figure. Linux rarely needs a restart to fix something.
