New here. Great forum! I have been searching for something I am curious about, but have been unable to find, so am posting this thread. Please feel free to point me in the right direction, if I am rehashing something already beaten to death.
Let us imagine that someone has a library of ePub book files on a device like a Nook, and some of the books are read, some are not read, and some are partially read. For the sake of discussion, let's stipulate that there is no DRM involved, so no need to discuss that aspect. If one were to convert files from ePub to one of the Kindle-readable formats, would there be a way to keep that information on whether a book has been read, where one stopped in the book, etc.? |

Nope, sorry. Been there, done that. Your best bet is to make a column for such info in Calibre and put that in before erasing the books on your Nook. When you convert, it's a fresh new copy without notes, highlights or bookmarks.
In your case, tracking a lot of partials, you might want the column to list percentage read. Easier to get close to your place on the new e-reader. Last edited by Tarana; 03-13-2019 at 10:08 AM. |

Thank you kindly, Tarana!
![]() That is an interesting thought about keeping track in a column, and sounds like a good way to go. Using a text string to search for might also work (zero Kindle experience so far, but I believe one can search within a book). Last edited by Emoto; 03-13-2019 at 10:17 AM. |

I use a Date ( #finished).
Blank =to read, dates under 2001 - abandoned. A date = finished Others use T/F (Calibre T/F in tri state mode). True=done. False= abandoned. blank= to read I like to know 'When', because I might re-read when a new book in a long dormant series comes out ![]() |
