3 versions of calibre listed in windows program and features
The last 3 versions of calibre that I downloaded are all listed in Windows 10 "Settings", "Programs and Features". They are also listed in "Programs and Features" in Windows 10 "Control Panel". Calibre has been installed on my PC for many years and this has not happened before.
3 The listed versions are: Calibre 64 bit 190 MB, 11/8/2018 Calibre 64 bit 191 MB, 2/5/2019 Calibre 64 bit 191 MB, 3/9/2019 I wonder if future calibre versions will also be added to the listing. Rebooting does not remove the older versions. I have only 1 instance of Calibre in the "Program Files" of Windows Explorer at 192MB Could I uninstall the 2 older app versions without losing the calibre program? |

Uninstall ALL versions. (Calibre does not remove Libraries EVER, settings are also left in place). You may need to do additional cleaning (others can recommend tools that don't do other damage) Once that is done, just install the latest version and you should be good to go |

Thanks for the quick reply.
I uninstalled the 2 older versions and calibre is OK. I am going to wait for the next calibre update and see if the current version is still listed with the newest update. Hopefully there was a problem with the installation of a version that I uninstalled. If not, I will do as you suggest and uninstall all versions. |

@tcreek - if it happens again have a look to see where 'it' thinks the earlier releases are - right click header and check "Location" (no, I don't know how to make that column 'stick') Added: In the Control Panel list, not the singularly uninformative Settings->App list Ψ³
it's the Trusted Installer's job to maintain that list, so you might want to try running a system file check - sfc /scannow in an elevated command prompt - it has been known to fix install related issues. BR Last edited by BetterRed; 03-10-2019 at 05:05 PM. |
