Thing I'd like to see in KOReader

A small thing, but..

Settings for the history display mode can be set in the menu of the file manager - which is very counter-intuitive. History display itself has no drop-down menu, which is counter-intuitive too. I'd like to be able to set lots of properties of the history display, on the menu of the display itself.
In fact, that display could be much more general than just history, if we get a say on what to show in what order. My favourite would be: show all documents, sorted as {favourites, sorted by amount of favour} ++ {partially read, by decreasing percentage read} ++ {unread} ++ {read}. That would help me make progress in finishing books and articles while keeping special important documents at the top.

--

Something else: I use Calibre, and have my documents stored under D/{author_sort}/{title}. With many hundreds of articles, this has become quite unwieldy, so I'd like to switch to D/{author_sort[0]}/{author_sort}/{title} - but then I'd really very much like to have all the single-letter folders on one page, in multiple columns / tiled. So the start page would show the full alphabet (plus maybe some extra characters in foreign names), and clicking on one letter would then give me the traditional list view of authors having names starting with that letter. Would it be possible to do that - now, or in a soonish future version?

It sounds like you would like a more sophisticated search function. Pretty sure sorts of a large library of ebooks would likely tax the memory and CPU of most e-reading devices. A search returns a smaller collection of ebooks, than sorting the whole library.

In the File Manager/File Browser, if you Long Press/Hold on the page numbering at the bottom of the page, you can go to entries that start with a letter you enter.

Luck;
Ken

Thanks - I didn't know that trick, and it even works with a sequence of letters. Nice!

My idea was that a complete sort would never be necessary, as long as quitting a book would lead to a bit of updating - changing the amount read and inserting it at the right place in the list of partially-read books, or adding it to the list of books read.

Currently, when reading a book, the top menu has an icon to return to the file manager. Instead of that icon there could be a drop-down menu where one could choose the view: history, file manager, the Plato manager, ...
Maybe it could even be possible to allow plugins to add options there.

@Biep: The hamburger menu already includes a link to "History" from the Reader, it even happens to be the first entry in it.

(The hamburger menu might also be the default tab, IIRC).

Plugins can add entries anywhere they want (i.e., System statistics is in that same menu, and it's a plugin).

View menu

@NiLuJe:
Thanks - yes, I know there is a "history" menu entry. I just thought that if collection views became a thing, people might be interested in developing them. There are two views: file manager and history, but they are not recognised as a conceptual category. Now Plato brings a third view, but not as part of KOReader, so there is no single reader providing a nice set of collection views.
