Un-numbered series entries
Prompted by HogDrvr's thread "Series Count for Omnibus's" https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...ghlight=series this is a different question, but relates to the same bit of the Calibre database.
--- Larry Niven has a number of stories set in a common universe "Known Space" (well known to any SF addict). However the stories do not contain any meaningful sequence. What I'd like to do is leave the sequence unset. (But I can't find any way to do it!) Failing that, I've tried (and succeeded) recording all the non-sequential books as 999, which is an irritating, but viable, workround. Q1) Is there any way to achieve my desired outcome of leaving the sequence unset? Q2) Is my workround liable to result in undesired side-effects (like combining the two records in some horrible mish-mash? |

I just use a 0
IMHO that is less jarring than 3 9's To me, a Zero means it has no place in the timeline. I use fractionals for stories (usually shorts) the take place between the major stories. I used to use [3.45] to indicate the books 3, 4, 5, in an Omnibus until a few publishers broke that by skipping books, or adding a 4th Now I use 10.12 (implied 11). 10.5 is a short. Something will always break ![]() Another choice is to use EPUBsplit plugin and break them apart (I leave a note Split_from: xyz) |
