Search Authors only

When I search for an author, it returns a few that are incorrect.
For instance I search for Myke Cole and get all the books listed,
But also it shows 1 for Sullivan,Michael and 2 Abercrombie,Joe
How do i get ONLY the Author I search for please ?

I've got 9 books from him.

Any further thoughts please ?

Do the 8 missing books have multiple authors?
If so try;
author:"Myke Cole"

If not then check the metadata for the 8 missing books and compare to the one that does show. You may have a different spelling in the author field.

That search only returns 1 book not the 9

This search result is the same on ANY Authors I search for, always an odd couple of random ones are returned.
I only used Myke cole as a for instance as it was the search I just did !
I've always had this search problem, but it's now annoying me !!!

What should I input to ONLY get the required author and NO others ?

should return all books where the author is equal to Myke Cole.

author:"Myke Cole"
should return all books where the author contains Myke Cole.

If all books are not being returned then you should recheck the author field for those books.

You can also use the tag browser to show all books by a specific author;
https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/gui.html#tag-browser

Maybe you could post a screenshot of your search result and of the books that you expect to see but don't.

The different colours are my rules for books read or unread.

Just noticed that the one returned, was the only one that was
Myke Cole all the rest are Cole,Myke

Your were right, thank you.
I wasn't inputting search correctly, so,
Myke Cole only returned the 1 entry
Cole, Myke returned them all correctly.

And that is why they weren't returned.
Note: a search for author:Cole would return all nine books (plus any books by any other author with Cole in their name).

But you would be better to clean up the metadata for all these books. The Quality Check plugin would help with this, or just edit the metadata for each book and ensure that the Author and Author Sort fields are the same for each author.
