Library Sorting
Hi all,
I am going through my library and want to see if its possible to fix this problem that i'm having, that's driving me nuts. I have 2 book series with the same name by different authors, when listing in my library it lists Book title - author 1 - series book 1 book title - author 2 - series book 1 book title - author 1 - series book 2 book title - author 2 - series book 2 Is their a way where I can list the books in the series that have the matching names like this. Book title - author 1 - series book 1 book title - author 1 - series book 2 book title - author 2 - series book 1 book title - author 2 - series book 2 I have attached a pic for a better idea on what my current problem is. ![]() |

Sort by series, within author - titles don't matter in this case
You may find it easier to use the View Manager plugin to set/save sort orders and left to right column layout - I know I do. See Index of plugins I am pointing you at the plugin index so you can see the range of available plugins. It's a sticky at the top of the Plugins subforum BR Last edited by BetterRed; 11-26-2018 at 09:49 PM. |

Here may be Dragons
You may not have the Eggs in your Library yet, but the will happen. The dreaded Unrelated Series (name. Different Author-Different Universe) You found the Reused Title (not really, Great Authors think similarly) Then there is the Shared Universes, Where Many Authors write books as part of the Universe. For this to even remotely sort by anything OTHER than series +Index is a pipe dream Lets talk Series. Title sorting is counter productive. Series is all about INDEX (the number) Think about it: The Title of Book 1 is Zoolander , Book 2 is Alpacas ![]() Sorting by Authors for anything other than non-series titles is a route to madness. Go look at Fantastic Fiction for how many Authors have titles that list 'With xyz, or Include a second, third, fourth author " Each variant sorts based upon the ENTIRE set of names FWIW My solution to the reused Series was to add manually after checking that tis was not the Shared Universe issue, the creating authors initials to the series name: Magic (AN) ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Quote:
I deal with duplicate series' names from different authors by changing the Series name to include the Author initials - e.g. "Series Name (ABC)" and "Series Name (XYZ)". But I don't read many 'serial' books - hardly any in fact. So, I don't know if that's viable if you're an avid reader of 'serial' books. BR |
