Question Is it possible to enable the white text on black background like a kindle has?

I bought the Kobo Aura H20 Edition 2 and I love the blue light filter, but I miss the white text on black background feature that the kindle has.

Is it possible to have this on the Kobo aura?

Yes, I believe it is possible. Maybe start here:

The night mode threads are in the developer section. It is also possible to edit the config file.

Good luck

I found this page helpful:

https://dbeinder.github.io/kobo-nightmode/

It summarizes all the information without forcing you to dig through a 50-page thread.

Edit: It seems this page is more up to date:

KOReader has a pretty good "Night Mode". Not up to date Features List.

That is the version you have to use for any recent firmware version. And it is the only one that will work with the devices that have the SLL CPUs. This is the second versions of the Aura Edition 2 and the Aura H2O Edition 2, the Clara HD. It will probably work with the Forma, but, we won't know for sure until someone tries it.

Yeah, I learned the hard way that the newer version doesn't work with my first generation Aura. I installed the latest version of the hack, my Aura threw up an unrecoverable error message, and I had to hard reset. The older version of the hack works perfectly, however.

Apart from the new CPUs, the hack is firmware dependent. Any firmware newer than about 4.3 (sorry, can't remember the exact firmware version number), needs the updated hack. The update was written to support changes in the kernel included in this version. If you are running the Aura with recent firmware, it should work.

Ah, well, I'm not running recent firmware. I've stuck with 3.12.1 because of various issues with every firmware released since then. So if the hack is firmware dependent then that would explain why my Aura barfed.
