Automatic ebooks classification

I have a lot of books on my hard drive and I would like to import them in Calibre. Unfortunately the "Series" field is not atomatically filled.
Is there a way to automatialy fill the Series filed so I do not have to manually classify all these books?
Thanks!

Not reliably as there is no 'standard' metadata.
If you have grouped a series. Import just that, then use eithe the Metadata editor or the Manage Series plugin.
The latter allows naming and ordering (pretty easy if the numbers are sequential and complete. fractional or missing titles add quite a bit more effort)

For automatic, the Goodreads Metadata Source does a decent job (In config you can set to only grab series). It usually takes the publication order, so if you already set some books with chronological order, exclude them before a batch update.

for the best automatic.
the first step is extracting metadata from ebook with EXTRACT ISBN.
then you can select all the book with ISBN to Bulk Download Metadata you want.
if you use Goodreads Metadata Source Make sure you read this too https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...2&postcount=15

Caution should be used with Extract ISBN. Many books in my library contain more than one ISBN — often the copyright information contains the ISBN for one or more physical editions as well as an ISBN for the ebook version — and sometimes the one it pulls is even for an entirely different book. (No, really. I've got books where the endmatter teasers for other books include ISBNs, and Extract ISBN has pulled one of those instead of the one that is appropriate to the book.)

Automation only saves time if you don't have to go back and look at everything manually to fix the mistakes. :-)
