I am trying to decide whether I should buy a Max2 for surfing the web from the device itself (not as a secondary PC monitor).
I love my DPT-S1 for pdf annotation. But it is impossible to surf the web with it. Can people who have used the Max2 for a while comment briefly on how good their web browsing experience is? * Max2 wifi range similar to a cellphone's? * How quickly does battery drain while web browsing? (I think five hours are advertised, but what do you really see)? * Is the we browsing experience itself good enough you'd recommend it? Thank you! |

max 2 wifi range is better than my phone, but my phone is a galaxy note 3 from 5 years ago, so dunno if that's good enough for you
the battery drains quick, but you still get hours of use. the browsing is not like a tablet, but good enough to use it. I don't like the scroll because it is slow and the constant changes between a2 and normal display bothers me, so I use page up/page down with full refresh. I moved from an older device just to be able to browse and install apps on this one, and limitations in mind I'm pretty satisfied. I even installed some extensions to skip paywalls on firefox and read everyday a lot of articles from medium, hn or even browse long threads of reddit. max 2 is as good as you can get in the mixed ereader / tablet market. I would even go farther to say this is the first and single device (note maybe) that is useful in that regards after 15 years since the first ereader was released Last edited by whopper; 09-01-2018 at 11:53 AM. |

If the Max2 is anything like the n96ml+, it may(?) be possible to use apps (opera beta, uc mini) that don’t refresh on scroll, however they often require a refresh when changing domains. This is still not the best experience, closest solution might be a screen shortcut to reenable the a2 mode. Some similar ideas are discussed in “refresh in a2 mode” thread.

Web experience is very good but only on the build in web browser. Somehow all the web pages insist on using grey on white and other 'low contrast' styles. The build in web browser handle it pretty well. There is a noticeable time gap like 0,5 - 1s between the page is loaded and displayed with a low contrast and then magically become really sharp and readable. However I don't like the very big menu, search bar, and tab space in the browser. It takes out the precious space.
I have tried many other web browsers for android but none of them does the B&W expanding for text. |
