Can't get Paperwhite and Kindle for PC To Sync Collections

Unless I'm mistaken, everything I've read shows this should be possible.

I have read help articles but nothing is working. The Kindle for PC app shows all the books on the Paperwhite and from the cloud account fine. My issue is I wanted help organizing collections.

My Amazon account has the Paperwhite as my main device. I have the Whispersync settings enabled on the Paperwhite, on the app and on my amazon account - triplechecked all three. I have the wireless on and have pressed sync with both the app and the paperwhite.

When I go to Import collections, the only option is to import from the PC App, which I'm not trying to do. There is not import from an actual kindle option.

Thanks, I can try that tomorrow (about to head to bed). Was hoping it would just be syncing back and forth automatically due to the cloud storage but perhaps not.

Kindle for PC does not support cloud collections synchronized with your account.

Added: That has been a major missing feature of the Kindle for PC app for a long time now, Amazon doesn't seem inclined to fix it.

Yup, the Kindle for PC/Mac apps are seriously crippled compared to the iOS and Android versions.
I am hoping for a complete redesign for Mac once Apple forces 64bit apps around the end of next year. They could easily use their iOS apps and even some of the code for that. I would much prefer that to the current version...

While that would be great, I think that it is unlikely to happen. Kindle for PC and Kindle for Mac have feature parity and appear to share the same code base. I think that is likely to continue since Amazon has little reason to put resources into new development on those declining platforms, even if it is just a port from iOS.

Amazon recently updated the Kindle Previewer for Mac to be 64-bit and they did it by just recompiling the existing software. That is another program that works the same on both PC and Mac and will apparently continue to do so.

Thanks for the info, looks like there was something major I missed that explains this issue.

I rarely use my phone for such things but not really looking forward to having to deal with downloading over 800 ebooks on the computer just to easily sort them, so may just try it through the phone and see if I have better luck there before going through all the effort.

Why don't you do it through your account page on Amazon's website? (https://www.amazon.com/hz/mycd/myx) It will then sync with the other mobile apps and devices.

I've tried that, but I find it incredibly tedious and slow and always give up after a few books. The Paperwhite works quicker for me than doing it through the account site (sadly), so I don't mess with that method.
