Kobo really rocks

I absolutely love my Kobo Libra 2.

Why? Because I can organise my books exactly as I want them, rather than Amazon forcing me to organise my books their way on a Kindle.

There's not much of a way for book organization on a Kindle.

I'd not go back to a Kindle and it's better than the other alternatives!

I love my Kobos. After being a Kindle fan for years, I sold my last actively used Kindle (the Oasis 3) a month or so ago. It's not impossible I might be tempted to buy a Kindle again in the future, but by no means sure. I'll certainly buy a new Kobo, unless page-turn buttons disappear. A buttonless device is not an option.

Tried nearly all of them:

Cybook (good), I wore it out

Iliad (good but defunct now),

Sony (many iterations all good, but now defunct),

Boox (fell to pieces on second use)

Likebook P10 (reasonably good ,but extremely non-intuitive and appallingly translated user manual),

Boyue P78 (same criticism as above Likebook suspect same company)

Kindle (from very first model, through to latest paperwhite mostly good but extremely restrictive as far as purchases are concerned, DRM)

Kobo Libra 2, and Kobo Aura, both excellent no issues or problems, good clear reading screens on both with excellent definition

But without Calibre and Kobo, where would I be? Probably reading paperbacks!

Without Kobo I'd still be reading on a Kindle. Pocketbooks have even fewer options, most Android eink readers have no buttons and I'm no fan of either KOReader or Android reading apps. So a Kindle it would probably be.

Without Calibre? Paper books for sure.

Yeesss. Libra 2 is my first Kobo and the book management ensures that I'll never go back to Kindle.

If there wasn't Kobo, I would go to the next best thing. If there wasn't calibre, I would go to the next best thing. I'm not going back to paper.

It was amazing how easy the switch to ebooks was for me. I bought a Nook on a whim, because the Glowlight appealed to m. I started reading a book on it and immediately became an ebook convert. I haven't bough a paper book for myself since, because I know that I won't wind up reading it.

This thread should be titled, "Kobo Rocks, and Kindle Sucks".

But yes, I agree.

The problem with this is that there's no next best thing to Calibre. There just isn't anything remotely as good. Yes, DRM removal would probably still be possible, but even that might be a lot more difficult for ordinary, non-techy users without Calibre. And speaking of library management... there just isn't anything comparable.

I still buy paper books occasionally, because the ebook situation in my country is frankly pitiful. Many books, even new releases, simply have no digital edition at all, only paper.

Granted, I do most of my reading in English and of course I buy only ebooks there. But sometimes there's a book in Estonian I want to read and it's only available on paper. It sucks, but no one really cares here. The vast majority of Estonians read happily on paper.

Although calibre is fantastic, I could use other tools instead.

I've always wondered why Amazon has never really updated the Kindle user interface considering how the Kobo is leaps and bounds ahead of the Kindle in functionality.
