Calibre/Kindle
Hi and thanks for your help.
When I connect my Kindle Paperwhite to the PC via Calibre, I can see the contents of the device's memory. However, if I send a book from the library to the device to doesn't actually show up on the Kindle.
I can, though, delete books from the Kindle!
Where am I going wrong?

Also, I see that the titles appear on my Kindle in Calibre, but not on the Kindle itself, and that in Calibre they show 0 size

Both the Kindle and your PC (inc anti-virus suites) get updates.
One of the first things needed, is to check the logs (or site update status/FAQ)

On a number of occasions, I have had to reboot W10 after an 'not mandatory' (W10 does not show a reboot type shutdown) update to get peripherals to behave.

I really hate the new(ish) W10 silent updates. When I did then, I was aware they were done.

Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro - it's well worth it, a) for the increased control it gives over updates, and that it includes the Local Group Policy Editor.

Have Pro, but never messed with poledit. I did set the (standard when to do ) time choice

Because you have some zero byte files on your kindle. I'm not sure what you want here. The only way to solve your problem is to follow the advice in the FAQ

The book showing zero bytes is the book/books I have used Calibre to transfer.
However, I have found that Calibre is not converting to Mobi; when I use another conversion programme I can drag and drop so, goodbye Calibre.
