ADE authorizing ereader through phone
Hi
Does anyone know a way to ADE authorize a Kobo device through an android phone? If I don't have my laptop with me I would still like to be able to borrow library books (or buy books) directly to my phone and transfer it to my device on the go. At this point I have used an OTG cable which let me connect my Kobo device to the phone as a removable storage. It works fine to just move non DRM protected books to the device a read them. But how to proceed with DRM protected library books (or bought books) where the ereader first need to be authorized with ADE? At this point I can sign in to my local library on my phone (Samsung S5), download the the DRM protected book to phone and open it in ADE or Bluefire after authorizing my phone with the Adobe ID. But to be able to transfer it to ereader (manually or through app) and being able to read it, I must first authorize the ereader. The ADE on the phone only lets me authorize the phone itself, but not an external device as with the ADE on the laptop. So, any solution or ideas? M |

Surely once you have authorized the device it will stay authorized.
You can back up the files in the Adobe something directory on the device to your phone and restore them if you happen todo a reset. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk |

My Kobo is already authorized through ADE on my laptop. And it works fine to borrow book to my laptop, authorizing them through ADE on the laptop and transfer them to the Kobo device through ADE.
But on my phone I can only borrow books, authorize them through ADE and then only read them on my phone through ADE or other ADE conmpatible reading app, like Bluefire etc. But in the ADE app there is no option to transfer to a reading device connected to the phone. Don't know if it has to do with the fact that the phone itself generally are considered a plug and play "slave" and not a "master" like the laptop. I thought, however, that since my Kobo was already authorized through ADE on my laptop and through the same account, that I could simply copy and paste the authorized borrowed book from my phone to the device. |

When I use the OTG cable the phone becomes Master and the connected Kobo device is still considered a plug and play "slave". But I suppose that the ADE app on the phone is only built to support the phone as the end reading device.

If the ereader is authorized to the same Adobe account as your phone, it might work to copy the files to the ereader. I have just experimented with this using books downloaded using ADE on my PC and it did work. Whether it will work from the phone probably depends on exactly how ADE on the phone stores the books.

Yes, that was what I thought too...
I tried copy the files to the ereader, since the ADE app on the phone doesn't have any option to transfer to external device. Like one normally do on the laptop. I tried putting it directly in the root folder, since it's there the ADE app in Windows transfer it to. On the phone the ADE app puts the book in the ADE folder, so I also tried to put it in the ADE folder on the ereader. But without success. Isn't it strange that Adobe doesn't offer the option to transfer from phone (or tablet) to external device, since more people tend to leave computer and use a tablet or phone these days? Especially when travelling. Last edited by marp68; 06-29-2018 at 11:08 AM. |

Really, what we need is built-in access to Overdrive on e-ink readers themselves. Last edited by ilovejedd; 06-29-2018 at 11:29 AM. |
