azw4 to epub deformats

Hello,

a 400 page book (no epub format available), bought from Amazon deformats to more than 900 pages, hard to read. The index alone is stretched from 20 pages to 30 pages. For a sample page please see the two appended gifs.

The grey background could be avoided with the elder version 3.23. (hint of another post). I also tried on-line conversion tools (cloudconvert, freefileconvert, epubconverter): one with the grey background, all deformated.

Any help welcome!

The gray can be avoided using the current 3.26.1 also.

Use the KindleUnpack plugin, which will allow you to extract the PDF file from the AZW4 wrapper.

I agree, but using PDF (which is what AZW4 is) as a source for converting to epub is often horrible. Read the sticky post at the top of the Conversion forum titled, "Read this before Posting PDF Questions" for more information.

Bottom line you will need a lot of manual editing of the epub to make this conversion usable.

You could try using http://www.willus.com/k2pdfopt/. It produces a pdf that is easier to read on a small screen e-reader. (EDIT: you need a pdf as input)
