Same description as 5.9.5. Will have to download and install this and see if it does anything with the clock issue.

I have only done a little reading with the clock on since installing 5.9.5.1, but I have not run into any issues with the screen flashing when the clock updated so far.

After using my Paperwhite for a while longer, I can now definitively say that this update did not fix the clock issue.

This update does not solve my problems either.

I honestly can't recommend the Kindle anymore : useless updates after useless updates. Known issues are not fixed. Improvements, we don't care; but almost never what we ask.
And since the last "updates", it took me almost 5 minutes just to download a simple preview; and collections show a wrong number of items. What a piece of cr@p! |

There is an issue relating to the option to display the time while you read. When you have the clock on and the time changes, it can cause the screen to flash like it is doing a page refresh. Most people turn the feature off so it doesn’t happen. I like the clock there enough to deal with it, but hope Amazon fixes it soon.

‘Soon’ has come and gone: given the near-certainty that many folks reported the issue to Amazon in the first days of the x.x.x.0 release, they could have delayed this x.x.x.1 release for a few days in order to include a fix for this.
That said, the extra refreshes don’t bother me so I am not one of these ‘many folks’. And the workaround is obvious: just wait for the time to change before you turn the page (I am kidding of course). I have not had any performance issues on my Voyage or Kindle (8th gen). As far as features-I-wish-Amazon-would-do, I would say mine are pretty esoteric: - why not have Voyage/Oasis buttons function as scroll up/down in contexts like Notes, X-ray, Book descriptions on Kindle store, web browser, etc.? - support external keyboard for navigation, hotkeys, text entry etc. (including Bluetooth keyboards for Kindles that support BT). This could also be justified as Accessibility feature (especially if they also supported connected Braille accessories for screen reader etc.) |
