ScanTailor crashes on output step
I have been trying to use ScanTailor to help me with trimming/cropping page photos to prepare them for OCR.
It generally works fine but it leaves me frustrated on the final step. I reach the final step, Output, then it crashes. Every. Single. Time. I can't figure out what is going wrong? It always does this for any kind of image I give it: JPG, TIFF, PNG. I have an error report generated and sent to Apple automatically. Is this just a Mac thing? I'm primarily trying to spare myself the tedium of trimming hundreds of photos of single pages down manually. We've all been there. In my case, because the pages aren't consistently in the precise same spot from photo to photo, automating the trimming/cropping process would not yield good results. Please note the low-resolution examples attached. The original photographs are high quality 300ppi JPG. Aside from ScanTailor, I'm not aware of any software that can auto detect page edges and automatically crop them down for Mac. Funny enough they do exist for iOS. |

Doesn't scantailor have a forum over on diyscanner?? Also, make sure you aren't violating any copyright laws by scanning textbooks.

Perhaps you can download a newer version of "Scan Tailor Experimental":
https://github.com/Tulon/scantailor/releases Yours looks years out of date. I also think by default Scan Tailor is set to "2x Resolution Enhancement". Your images may be too high resolution and your computer couldn't handle it (not enough RAM, [...]). Maybe try to find a simpler image, get to the Output step and set Resolution Enhancement to 1x, and then Apply To all pages. |

Try ScanTailor Advanced, that's the only one that's still in development. And has the most features.
