Need either a new "reader" or "jacket" for it.

Forgot to say thank you for any help on this Denise

I have a Kindle Fire now, one of the 49.99 Fires (7"). I really find it so uncomfy to hold when I am in bed reading, and that's when I read the most.

I had a wonderful Nook Tablet for my first, in 2012 I think I got it. I bought an awesome cover for it at the time too. Really, nice M-Edge brand, but it doesn't fit any reader/tablet out there it seems. I've searched online but it doesn't seem they are making that type any longer??

The Fire isn't bad, and if I could find a nice cover for it, I think that would fix my issue. If I can't find a cover for it, I might have to buy another tablet in order to get a better cover/jacket.

Anyone else have this type of issue, and find something that is really comfy to hold while reading in bed?

I'll try and attach some photos of my M-Edge I can no longer use, and ask you all if you know of a cover or, another reader that I can fit to a much, better cover than the one I have. I'll show you first a pick of the M-Edge cover, then a pic of the one I got "cheap" for the Fire:

M-Edge doesn't make that style of cover for the Fire 7". But the old M-Edge case for the Kindle Keyboard (Kindle 3) or Kobo WiFi fits, and you've got a choice of several styles and colors. I've taken some pictures of my Kindle 7" (newest, cheap model) in my Kindle 3, M-Edge case. As you can see, it's a good fit (it has straps instead of the plastic clips but sod did the original M-Edge Nook cases). You do have straps crossing you on/off switch and volume rocker switch, but they don't fit tight enough to be a problem. It may not be the best solution, but if you want an M-Edge case, this is probably the only solution. (I like the feel of it enough that I might replace my Fintie case with one of these for the tablet.) You have to get the M-Edge cover for the Kindle 3 or Kobo (or, some of the older ones, said iRiver).

Here's a link to the one I bought – but you can also find other colors on Amazon and eBay.

https://www.amazon.com/S-Edge-Access...-edge+kindle+3

Here's one just like the one you had (except with straps instead of plastic hooks). It advertised to fit the Kindle 3, so it should be the same size and fit as the one I've picture below. But I would confirm this with the seller, as they also sold these for the Nook Simple Touch and Kindle/Kobo Touches.

I'm partial to Poetic Slimline cases myself. I use them on all my tablets. I don't use the stand part but these cases are lightweight and protect well. I wouldn't use it for traveling but for general around the house use they are great. Don't let the price fool you they are very well made. My oldest one is from 2013 and just showing wear.

This one doesn't look bad at all, and definitely looks to have a more cushy feel than the "cardboard" like one I've got now!! Thank you sooooooooooo much!! I rarely use the "audio" so no problem with the volume being covered, or the on/off, Denise

I think the second one I linked is exactly like the one you had for the Nook Tablet. The first one is nice (in my opinion) but it's really not too "cushy."

I appreciate your feedback as well Blossom, but I think I'll try the M-EDGE again. Yours looks a lot like what I have now, and like you, I never use it horizontally. I think that's what you meant

I think the padding is what I need for more comfi'ness on my hands

Oh my gosh!! That is like the one I have!! Now if it will just work with the 7". The "exact" measurment (beyond screen) is 7.5 X 4.5?? I so hope this will work. It is identical to my first, purple one except no plastic snap ins!! I love it, and sooooooo hoping!!

Thank you again, really can't thank you again as I NEVER ran across these in my searches!! Denise

I just wrote to the seller, so hope they get back to me soon. They live in Oregon, in the town I lived in for about 10 years!! Small world!

The "screen" size is what they usually list, not the full size which I don't understand why they don't list both

I'll let you know what I hear Thank you again, Denise

Good luck. If it's the one they're advertising (for the Kindle 3) it should be identical in interior size to the one I pictured — just a different style case than mine. (That one is an "Executive" model instead of the "Go! Jacket" model I have.)

I should have asked before but I totally spaced it rcentros. What are the measurements of a Kindle 3? Not just the screen size, but the whole casing both horizontal and vertically?

I think the second one looks as if it will work for me, although I see it barely fits in the "straps". But if mine was loose, I think I could figure some padding to take up the slack, so to speak. What do you think?

PS My old Nook is 5" X 8.1" and fits exactly into those plastic guides you see in my picture of my purple case

Denise

This is the one I would love to order as it is truly identical to my old, Nook case. Just, as I mentioned already, the difference in the "strap guides" and plastic ones in my old case.

And looking at this photo again, the guides are quite a bit smaller (closer together) than the ones on my old case. I'm really excited as I've sort of suffered with this cruddy case I have now for my Fire, and feel so lucky to meet up with you here Denise

A Kindle Keyboard is 4-7/8" wide and 7-1/2" tall. The Kindle Fire 7" (latest edition) is slightly over 4-1/2" wide and 7-1/2" tall. The Kindle 7" fits well in the M-Edge case I have. It's a little thicker so that makes up for the slightly narrower width. I've posted a picture of the Fire 7" sitting on the Kindle Keyboard. You can see that the Kindle Keyboard is a bit wider. I've also pictured a Kobo WiFi, Kindle Fire 7" and Kindle Keyboard — the Kindle Keyboard and Kobo Wifi are almost identical in width and height.

I went ahead and ordered the one in post #11 rcentros. I just think it will work as I see the straps are wider (for a narrower tablet/reader like mine). It did come in the purple so happy about that too. I appreciate the work you went to getting the photos. I see the "keyboard" is a tiny bit wider, but the Kindle 7" is the blue right? And it looks to fit well enough

Denise. PS I should have it by Friday according to shipping details and will let you know here

Am I reading the ruler right in thinking that 7/8 in. is quite a bit bigger than 1/2 an inch??

Sorry, no, I looked on my measuring tape and it is a tiny bit compared to the enlarged tape I saw on line, LOL!! Oh well, I'll get it right

The one pictured is not the right one. M-Edge made the Executive Cover for several sizes and models, including (1) the Nook Simple Touch, (2) the Nook Tablet (the one you have), (3) the Kindle and Kobo Touches and Kindle 4 (all about the same size) and (4) the Kindle Keyboard and Kobo WiFi. (They did the same with their Go! Jacket models, as well.) That's at least four separate models of this particular cover (I think they also made some models for iPads also.)

Here's a link to one that is clearly marked and made for Kindle Keyboard and Kobo WiFi.

I'm nearly certain the one I linked to before (which is cheaper) is this model. If you go to the sellers eBay store and do a search for M-Edge, two Executive models will come up. One for the Nook Simple Touch (eReader not the tablet) and one for the Kindle 3. You'll notice that the Kindle 3 one is taller (even though it's out of scale).

I'm the kind who worries about every detail, but I'm 99% sure that the one linked (above and in an earlier post) is the right model.

(Sorry for rambling.)

Yep. It's official. Sony Reader has "ruined" books for me. A final "review." WilliamG Sony Reader 48 01-14-2011 03:49 AM
