Flash previous firmware version without a reset?
This is probably a stupid question, but here goes; I have a Glo HD and I am sick and tired of the 4.7.10413 firmware bugs. I wanted to flash 4.6.9995, but I would like to avoid a factory reset if possible. Anyone has any idea whether this would work?

Just do it. The worst that will happen is that you will need to do a factory reset anyways.
If you want, you can make a backup of the whole ereader, including the .kobo directory, first. |

I've done that multiple times, downgrading the firmware on my Glo and Glo HD readers without doing a factory reset first and never had a problem doing it. As geek1011 said, the worst that could happen is you'll have to then do a factory reset if something gets messed up, but it's unlikely.

Same as you, I've gotten tired of the stats not working in 4.7.10413.
I want either my own page numbers in the TOC and progress (like the KPW1), or working stats (on the KA1), so I can gauge how long reading a chapter would take me. Call me weird, but I like knowing that. Because I wanted the stats to work, I flashed 4.6.9995, no factory reset, and there don't seem to be any problems. If there are bugs somewhere, they don't affect my usage. I wasn't able to find any information on version 4.7.10075, linked at Geek101/Patrick G's github repo. That link is the only one mentioning this firmware, so I used 4.6.995. In the future, I'll save this firmware as my default one to return to if a newer version breaks something I need. |

It seems the improvements I've been able to find out about for myself are some changes in the GUI and some compatibility fixes/additions with regard to handling library books. I haven't noticed the first, and I don't use the library functions, so I wouldn't even notice if they were completely broken... |

BTW, who would be interested in me creating a changelog page for kobo firmware where people can submit items, and it would be searchable and store regressions, bugs and features. Last edited by geek1011; 04-08-2018 at 11:38 AM. Reason: put 4.6 stuff instead of 4.7 by accident |

It wouldn't be searchable or reusable that way ... I like being able to run scripts on the data. But I could have a wiki export option which can be put in the wiki, or I could do it in reverse.
