adding books doesn't catch duplicates

Not sure if I did something wrong, but it seems that I cannot catch duplicate library adds if the book in the library has been edited to separate the series from the title to it's own column.

You didn't do anything wrong but if you make a major change to the title (such as removing series info) then of course it's unlikely to catch a duplicate.

Use Find Duplicates plugin after the normal ADD, to further polish your Library.

FD has various configurable 'detection' methods that can be used. All you need to do is find the one that works best for your Library entries.

I don't know why I thought this not catching the books was a new thing.

Am glad to know its normal because I was going to ruin my library by troubleshooting this.

Would be nice if duplicate finder could be set to automatically catch books as they are being brought in.

check you 'duplicates' setting under Preferences: Adding books.
it may have glitched along the way
