Hello, it is my 1st post so hello all ebook enthusiast!
Let's go straight to the problem: I have a big bundle of epub books from my friend in my native language (Polish). The problem is that many of them are missing specific polish letters (ć,ł,ś,ź,ó,ż,ą,ę etc.). It is a pain to read a book like that and checking each book 1 by 1 consumes a long time. Is there a way to check whole library at once and delete all the books that don't have specific signs in them? (I don't mind leaving my PC to do it for few hours as long as I don't have to do it by myself). Waiting for a quick response Best regards! ![]() PS: I had no idea if this topic fits library managament or something else so please move if needed. Cheers. PS2: Just remembered I have one more problem: When I do bulk metadata for example for Karol May's books it puts his name in title and finds authors of his bio instead of just getting info about the book by him? A simple method could be to use the Quality Check plugin to search epubs for one of the special characters. Or a very common word with these characters. And tag the files it finds. And then just delete all files not tagged.
As far as I know you can only search epubs this way. There may be other plugins for other file formats. Or simply convert all the books to epub before you search. I don't understand what you mean in the second question. Last edited by Adoby; 02-08-2018 at 04:39 PM. Reason: Speling worng fixd |

@TheIslander,
Have you opened any of these books to check whether the Polish characters are actually missing? It's possible that the books are fine but that your ereader is displaying the books using a font which doesn't contain the Polish characters. If your device allows you to change fonts try a few different ones to see if the missing text magically reappears. |

Thanks for quick answer!
https://ibb.co/et9TrH Quality check did the trick it found all the books containing letter ł. I will doublecheck with another letter to see if it will make same amount of matches. @jackie_w yep I have tried both on my inkpad2 and calibre and I suspect that my friend selected wrong coding or something like this and it "ate" all Polish letters. (it comonly happens in the world of internet and I am quite used to it but reading a book like this is a pain especially when Laska means staff and Łaska means mercy) To my 2nd question: Lets say I have 20 books by Karol May. All of them have a proper title in the title box and Karol May in author (no metadata anywhere else) when I Ctrl+D them I get as a result Karol May in the title box and some dude that wrote his bio in author. Edit: Okay I have yet another problem. The quality check did find all the books using PL letters and it displayed it as marked:epub_search_text How to display only the books that didn't pass the search? Edit2: I found out that I just needed to write marked:false. . . Last edited by TheIslander; 02-08-2018 at 07:06 PM. Reason: didn't want to make another post as it is about same thing |

@TheIslander - I suspect your Karol May problem lies with the metadata source(s) you're using. Try doing a metadata download for a single book by that author using the Metadata Download option in Metadata Edit - that should enable you to spot the source creating the problem, you can then adjust your download source settings to eliminate the problem.
