Hello and welcome to MobileRead. You've certainly selected a handle (LakesideReader) that tells us a lot about you. This community is filled with readers. Hop right into discussions and tell us what you're reading and how you like your Kindle. I've really enjoyed my Kindle since it arrived in mid-February. I've got a *lot* of books loaded onto it and have read 41 on it so far. In that time, I've also read 38 paper books and 3 books on my newly acquired Sony PRS 505.

Thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome!

I just bought my Kindle on August 2nd. Elsi, how do you like the Kindle versus the Sony?

Both are great readers. Each have their good and bad points. I've had the Sony for almost two years and I am very happy with it. Some Sony users have sold/given away their readers and purchased the Kindle and some that had the Kindle have sold it and gotten the Sony. It is a matter of what works best for you.

I like them both. If I absolutely had to give one up, I'd keep the Kindle. It's not as sleek as the Sony, but the Amazon catalog more than makes up for the aesthetics. I find it slightly more difficult to turn pages on the Sony. The keys are smaller and more stiff, so I sometimes don't press hard enough. Of course, there's a downside to the keys on the Kindle -- when I hand the Kindle to someone else they invariably wind up turning pages when they didn't intend to.

I didn't know about the Sony until after I had ordered the Kindle and subsequently discovered MobileRead. I saw one in a Borders Bookstore about a month after I got my Kindle and realized then that I could be happy with it. When the opportunity came to buy one second-hand, I jumped at it. I'm hoping to convince my daughter to read with it. But in the meantime, I'm enjoying several of the books that our own Dr. Drib has uploaded to the forum here @ MobileRead.

I always bookmark my current page before handing the reader to someone else to look at.

That's all I need--another reader.

I had a problem buying too many regular books and now I have a real problem with ebooks. It is so easy to buy them from Amazon...I'll start reading something which will trigger a search for something else and the next thing I know I've ordered two more books. Oh, and forget those free samples. I must say 'NO' to those free samples.

Thanks to RWood and others on this forum I have also downloaded quite a few free books from here and from Feedbooks.com. I'm up to 21 index pages already.

So are there any tips on finding the time to read all of these books? Hmm, I'll bet I can search and find a book for that...
