Calibre shows no books

I have Calibre installed on my thinkpad T520 and LINUX MINT.
I've been using it for about a year and am very pleased with it and the ability to select the books using a variety of "tags".

However, today, when I reload Calibre, it shows no books.

I checked and it appears that all the books still exist under the "Calibre_Library directory.

I have a second Calibre directory with other books in it, and when I point the Calibre library to there, everything shows up normally.

Pointing to the original calibre library directory, I rebuilt the database, and re built the database - still no books show up!

Any ideas as to what's happening?
