It should be the same: Just copy the book file to the device while it is connected. Then eject the device.

But, were exactly are you copying the books to? Don't put them inside a directory whose name starts with a dot. They will be ignored if you do so.

Otherwise, exactly what are you copying? And epub file, or something else?

Just use calibre.

It'll be your buddy for life (+70).

I've have connected the device and copied epub files to the device.
I've tried calibre & adobe digital edition 4.5 .
Calibre gives me a notice
calibre, version 3.11.1
WARNING: Failed: Kobo database version unsupported - See details

Your Kobo is running an updated firmware/database version. As calibre does not know about this updated firmware, database editing is disabled, to prevent corruption. You can still send books to your Kobo with calibre, but deleting books and managing collections is disabled. If you are willing to experiment and know how to reset your Kobo to Factory defaults, you can override this check by right clicking the device icon in calibre and selecting "Configure this device" and then the "Attempt to support newer firmware" option. Doing so may require you to perform a factory reset of your Kobo.
Device database version: 143.
Device firmware version: (4, 7, 10413)

What does this mean. It really should not be this complicated to place my old file of epub books on a new device.

Thank you and i hope you can help me

It isn't. As, GeoffR said, upgrade calibre to get the version that does support this firmware. Or, follow the instructions in the message. They are completely safe with this version of calibre and the firmware.

But, getting a book onto the new Kobo is exactly the same as your oild Kobo. This process hasn't changed for a very long time. Just connect, copy the book to the root directory and eject the device. Anything beyond that is a complication to make long term use easier.
