'Stacking' a series in grid view?

I have searched but might not be using the right terms.

Is there a way, in grid view, to 'stack' a series? For instance, I have a bunch of old magazines I have scanned, and would like the first issue to show in gridview, and then expand if I click on it to show all of the issues. I don't know if the function exists, so I thought I would ask.

It's currently a flat view only, i.e. 1 cover thumbnail = 1 book.

That's not to say your idea isn't a good one. It sounds cool, but possibly a lot of work to achieve

Maybe the stack could present itself in the Book Browser carousel, viz:

Just search for series_index:1 That will show you only books with no series or only the first book in the series. Then when you want to expand a series right click on the book and select Similar books->book in the same series

When I entered series_index=1 in the search field and click search i get zero books matching the search in a library with 10000+ books and 1500+ series. What am I doing wrong?

Edit: Figured it out, series_index:"=1"
